Abstract Pulp Sculpture

This Abstract Pulp Sculpture is a single, unrepeatable moment in form - a piece I shaped slowly from discarded paper fibers until the lines began to move like thought itself.
I began with humble, upcycled pulp, breaking it down by hand, then rebuilding it into layered planes and curves. As the material thickened and dried, I carved, pressed, and coaxed it into dynamic abstract shapes that catch light in different ways throughout the day. From one angle, the piece feels angular and decisive; from another, it softens into almost cloudlike movement.
Because the pulp responds differently with every batch, there is no exact path to follow and no way to duplicate what happened here. Tiny irregularities, faint traces of the fibers' previous life, and subtle surface shifts give the work a quiet depth that reveals itself on close inspection. Over time, you may find yourself reaching out to trace the ridges and valleys, treating it almost like a tactile meditation.
This sculpture works beautifully in modern interiors that welcome a single, strong gesture instead of clutter. It can rest on a console, shelf, or pedestal, where its abstract presence acts as a visual pause in the room - a small anchor that slows the eye and invites a breath.
For eco-conscious collectors, there is another layer of meaning: what might have been thrown away now stands as a lasting object, formed through a s l o w, intentional process. Once this piece leaves my studio for its new home, it will never be recreated, so if the rhythm of these shapes resonates with you, this is the only time it will be available.
